New Charity Shop opening in Barcelona!

30 November, 2018

More than 100 people gathered to celebrate the opening of the new Charity Shop in the city of Barcelona. Inspired by the English charity shop concept this new shop is an important way of raising awareness for Epidermolysis Bullosa, providing people with the opportunity to learn about what it is really like to live with this rare and debilitating disease.

The shop can be found at the heart of Gracia on Carrer de L’Olla, 100. We are delighted to announce that this important event marked the opening of DEBRA’s 11th shop in Spain.

The celebration was made all the more magical with the addition of a musical performance by two very special artists. Carola Zafarano, the composer for the original music for the #ihaveundressed campaign and Fermin Andrade, one of our members, whose voice delighted and enchanted the guests. The shop is a wonderful example of sustainable fashion, offering new and pre-loved clothing donated by both companies and individuals. The shops open their doors every day thanks to the dedication of hard working managers and the many volunteers who donate their time and energy to the cause.

The charity continues with its ongoing work towards raising awareness for the disease and to supporting children and adults with the condition and the opening of a new shop is a huge landmark for us.

The Catalan city of Barcelona is an important location as it is also home to the Hospital of Sant Joan de Deu, a specialist reference center for EB.

The event was a wonderful occasion where guest where able to learn about EB and also be introduced to the charity shop concept of a sustainable retail experience that really makes a difference.
